Believe it or not, Poinsettia Groves started out as the Greenleaf Groves. A man by the name of Harry Jones started the fruit company in 1947. Only one year later, Harry decided to sell. If the business was too much for him, we may never know. What we do know, however, is that Robert and Clara Page, the next owners, didn’t care too much for running Poinsettia Groves either. They sold only a year after buying it as well.

Over 60 Years for Poinsettia Groves

The next owners, Elly and Eve Dennet and Sid and Lucie Johnson ran the business together for an impressive streak, about ten years. The Johnson’s ended up retiring and selling their interest to the daughter and son-in-law of the Johnsons. At this point, Poinsettia Groves was truly considered a small, family business. It is apparent that to stay in the industry, you absolutely have to have a passion for fruit.

When the Dennets retired, they were able to continue to keep Poinsettia Groves in the family. Still located in Vero Beach, FL, they are able to shop the famous Indian River Fruit since it grows right in their area. They specialize in selling fruit baskets with fresh oranges and grapefruits.
